Thanks very much to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. We had a tremendous response with 12 people volunteering to formally serve the club either on the MRG or the Board. We have shared the results with the club and asked to meet them to see how the volunteers could be best used and whether the club is willing to allow members to elect their own representatives.
The headline is that 98% of respondents supported the campaign goal for members to elect their own representatives. The survey respondents were made up of approximately 50% members, 30% lapsed members and 20% other supporters.
In terms of the club’s priorities for improvement, the survey results were clear: Improving member communications was the top priority with 67% of responses putting it 1st or 2nd in their rankings. The next three priorities were Player management & development; Respect for the club’s heritage and Customer service. The planned dedicated member facility at midwicket ranked the lowest priority.
There were many useful suggestions made in the comments box of the survey which we will share with the club if they agree to a meeting. The overall sentiment coming through in the comments is that Lancashire supporters feel the club’s actions and communications show a lack of respect towards them and the club’s heritage.
We clearly need to give the board a chance to consider the results and our request to meet to discuss the best way to give members the representation they clearly want and how to use the volunteers that the club said they would welcome at the AGM.
The club has restricted the belatedly arranged members’ forum on 31 August to cricket matters only and the postponed June MRG meeting is happening today. It isn’t a sign of a healthy members’ club when discussions on significant areas of concern are being held in such a limited manner. We appeal to the club to be more open in listening and responding to member concerns and to work with us in finding a way forward. We are all passionate Lancashire supporters, we want the club to do well on and off the pitch and we are willing to give up our time freely to help this happen.
Thank you,
